Basic Health Care Tips Every Family Needs To Know

By Sally Gibbs

Our health should not be secondary; it is essential to keep a few basic yet important health care tips in mind despite the demands of a fast paced world. Here are a couple of very simple but very significant guidelines in living a better life that people often take for granted.

Eat right. Simple rule of thumb: eat what's good for you. This is something that everyone probably knows: eating a balanced meal is key. Get your proteins, carbohydrates and fruits and vegetables, with fruits and veggies the most you can consume for health reasons.

Sleep well. You think your career and get rich scheme are important? How about your health? A simple health care advice: get enough sleep. Your body needs rest, believe it or not. Sleep is essential to maintaining good health. Think you're a powerhouse who can handle working an entire week without rest? Think again. Your mind and body will eventually falter; they will burn out if you keep abusing yourself.

Exercise. Get moving and burn those unwanted calories!

Everything in moderation. Too much sleep will give you a headache. Sugar is sweet but too many sweets and doing things in excess may cause toothache, tonsillitis, or even diabetes. Your body needs carbohydrates but too much will not only make you fat; it may cause or worsen certain health conditions, such as diabetes. The fourth of today's health care tips: everything in moderation, not too little, but not too much. Too much is never a good thing.

You know it's bad, it's bad, you know it. If you know it isn't good for you, pass. Most people know that cancer, heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are tobacco related diseases, you may have to get your teeth removed in the process and yet a large percentage of people worldwide still smoke. Apart from claimed psychological advantages and mental disease related benefits, smoking does not have any immediate positive effect on one's general health. It is for the most part bad for one's health. Why smoke? The same piece of health care advice goes for narcotics. If taking meth was good for you, the World Health Organization and the Food and Drugs Administration would recommend it, and you'd be able to purchase it over the counter.

Go Natural. Preservatives and artificial additives have become part of our daily diet. Even 'fresh eggs' aren't so natural anymore; some poultry suppliers inject certain agents that stimulate chickens to lay eggs rapidly. Natural is always the best. Organic is the healthier alternative. This is why free range chicken and organic eggs have found market niches.

Relax and Think Happy Thoughts. Seventh on our list of health care tips: RELAX. Stress is bad for you. It may result in or aggravate certain health conditions such as hypertension and heart disease.

Ever heard of the term 'psychosomatic?' Psychosomatic disorders are supposedly caused and made worse by mental factors, examples of which are high blood pressure, eczema, stomach ulcers, and heart disease. If your mind is always in disarray and you're always anxious, and then you start having chest pains but the doctor can't find anything, chances are you've got a psychosomatic disorder. It could get worse with sudden skin breakouts or even high blood pressure, never mind if you're a total health buff, but a stressed one.

Sound health care advice is very useful, reminding you that indeed, health is wealth.
